The improvement of the iPhone 14's camera performance seems to have changed my photography life a bit.
In everyday life, most of the cases do not carry a camera, so even at the moment when I did not take a picture, I trusted the iPhone 14 Pro Max and took a picture.
As a result, there are more daily photos than in the past.
The photos below are daily photos taken over a period of less than a month.
Most of the photos were taken with Apple ProRaw and converted to jpg with Lightroom.
Even when I see fallen leaves falling under my feet, I take pictures of things I would otherwise have missed.
In a low-light environment such as at night, if it was my previous iPhone XS MAX, I would not have attempted to take a picture, but I do not hesitate to take out my iPhone and take a picture.
Even in environments like the dark basement like the one pictured above, you can capture satisfying photos with plenty of detail.
Of course, recent mirrorless cameras will show better image quality in low light, but being able to take night photos like this on a smartphone itself is a case where the area where I can take everyday photos has greatly expanded for me, so I have a lot of photography life.
I can say that it has changed.
Apple ProRaw's calibration latitude has been quite satisfactory so far.
It's a pity that Apple ProRaw can't be used, but I use portrait mode often because it can express depth of field and out-of-focusing in photos. When shooting in portrait mode, photos are taken in JPG or HEIC format only.
I think that this out-of-focusing expression of software has now reached a very natural level.
In order to take pictures in everyday life, there are often cases where the moment passes between taking the camera out of the camera case.
At that time, the iPhone, which has improved the performance of photos, seems to play a role as a camera in the hand that does not miss the moment.
